Perak Confident Of EPU Nod For Proposed 10MP Projects
TAIPING, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Perak is confident the Economic Planning
Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister's Department will endorse the projects it has proposed for inclusion in the 10th
Malaysia Plan, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said Friday.
He said the confidence was based on the positive response of the EPU to the state
government's emphasis on people-oriented projects.
"The reaction (from the EPU) is positive because it realised that our approach is in
line with the government's aspiration to put the people first," he said after attending the state-level Maulidur
Rasul (Prophet Muhammad's birthday celebration) launched by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, at the Taiping
Municipal Square, here.
Dr Zambry, however, declined to disclose the total financial allocation Perak was
anticipating to implement the 131 projects it had proposed to the EPU on Thursday.
He said the projects would have high impact on the people even if they were
"These projects were proposed by the elected representatives for their constituents.
They may be on a small scale but will have a big impact on the people," he said.
The projects included the expansion of the runway and upgrading of facilities at the
Sultan Azlan Shah Airport in Ipoh, road networks and upgrading of hospitals state-wide.
The state government had also received the federal government's approval to create a
new tourist attraction at Bukit Larut with a cable-car project, he said.
