A big move in animation

PERAK is set to become an animation centre of the world on par with Disney following the opening of Perak Innovation and Creative Resource Centre (Pincer).

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said Pincer, located behind the Perak Techno Trade Centre (PTTC) in Taman Meru, Jelapang near Ipoh, had begun producing several animated series, which were now in their post-production stage.

“The centre is a continuation of the K-Perak blueprint, which was launched in 2004,” he said after visiting the centre yesterday.

Pincer, he said, was the most sophisticated, innovative and creative centre in the country.

“It marks the state’s foray into becoming a creative centre,” added Dr Zambry.

“Besides animation, the centre will also be involved in merchandising,” he said.

“The centre is also in talks with several countries to screen its products,” said Dr Zambry.

“I want the centre to continue its production and not be turned into a white elephant,” he added.
