Sparks ready to fly
By SETO KIT YAN
Ntv7’s new drama series Glowing Embers revolves around
Taiping’s charcoal industry.
SHE may have been born poor but she is not going to mope about
it and lament her fate. Instead, Yao Feng is a woman who takes charge of her own destiny and makes a better life
for herself. Playing the beautiful femme fatale is Debbie Goh, whom viewers last saw as the tenacious entertainer
in Ntv7 hit series Age Of Glory.
Taking over from Friends Forever is the new Ntv7 Mandarin
series Glowing Embers, an
intensely dramatic tale revolving around the little known charcoal industry in Taiping, Perak.
Starring as the main antagonist in the series,
Goh’s character is like a chameleon, constantly changing to suit her surroundings. Her life
revolves around three men – her husband Koo Zhi Qiang (Wang Jun), her lover Miao Li (Wymen Yong),
and her confidant Tony (Frederick Lee).
The Hong Kong-based actress filmed love scenes
with all three men in the movie – the most daring of all with Yong, who plays the man she truly
loves. Yong, who attended the press conference on Monday even thought he was unwell, exclaimed that
love scenes were extremely rare in local TV series.
