West Coast Expressway project is almost 76% complete

The West Coast Expressway (WCE) development project from Taiping, Perak to Banting, Selangor is close to 76% completion as of June this year, the Dewan Negara was told today.

“The highway construction work is being carried out intensively involving land clearing, land reclamation, road structures constructions and road paving,” Deputy Works Minister Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir said during question time.

He said this in reply to Senator Dr Yaakob Sapari who wanted to know the current status of the WCE project.

Mohd Anuar added that the cost of the project, totalling RM6.62 billion, encompasses the privatisation package worth RM5.04 billion and a conventional package worth RM1.58 billion carried out by the Public Works Department.
