The Taiping International Youth Marching Band Festival
Introducing the international band at The Taiping International Youth Marching Band Festival—The Jugendblasorchester Marktoberdorf, Germany. Welcome to Taiping!
The Jugendblasorchester Marktoberdorf is a diverse group of around 100 musicians aged 14 to 28 from the Marktoberdorf area. We play symphonic wind music at the highest level, but our repertoire also includes polkas and marches. We regularly showcase our talent at competitions such as the German Orchestra Competition, the World Youth Music Festival in Zurich, and various evaluation performances of the Allgäu-Swabian Music Association.
In addition to competitions, we organize an annual concert and a spring concert at the Modeon Marktoberdorf.
In 2024, we participated in the “Symphonischer Hoagascht,” a major project with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Sir Simon Rattle.
Of course, music isn’t the only thing we enjoy – celebrating is also an important part of our group. Whether after concerts or at our traditional summer festival, our “Stüble parties” are legendary.
We are supported and guided by our conductor, Thomas Wieser, and our board members, Hubert Jörg and Alexander Kirchmayr. The three of them are always up for fun, and without them, the JBO wouldn’t be what it is.
