ETS Train Service KL – JB Starts on 12-12-2025
By 12-12-2025, travel between KL Sentral and JB Sentral by train will be more convenience and faster by using ETS – Electric Train Service
The service will be officiated by yang dipertuan agong Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, on the 11th December, 2025. According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, at a press conference after officiating the Kluang Rail Festival held at Mahkota Rail Park on Nov 22.
“Initially, the trains will primarily connect JB to Kuala Lumpur, longer-distance trains, including services to Butterworth and Padang Besar, scheduled to be operational in subsequent phases, he added.
Once fully operational, there will be total 12 trips of ETS services for JB Sentral as following:
- 8 trips between JB Sentral and KL Sentral
- 2 trips between JB Sentral and Padang Besar
- 2 trips between Segamat and Butterworth

Project Overview
Originally slated to begin operations in 2025, the LRT3 project—also known as the Shah Alam Line—has undergone several postponements since construction commenced in 2017. The line currently comprises 25 permanent stations, with 5 additional provisional stations reserved for future development.
What This Means for Commuters
The 37.6-kilometre alignment connects Bandar Utama to Johan Setia in Klang, providing a long-awaited alternative for motorists along the heavily congested Federal Highway and NKVE corridors. While the line may not directly serve every commuter’s daily route, it is expected to meaningfully alleviate traffic congestion across greater Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding Klang Valley region.

In a separate development, Transport Minister Loke also addressed the train derailment incident near Chan Sow Lin LRT station on May 28, 2026, stating that a full report is expected to be completed this week as repair works on the Ampang Line continue.
