TAIPING: IN conjunction with the Visit Perak Year 2012, the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) organised the Taiping Lake Gardens and Zoorama Fest 2012 until month end here.
MPT president Shahrom Abdul Malik welcomed guest-of-honour Datuk Hamidah Osman who is the senior state executive councillor in charge of the tourism portfolio.
He said the fest would include programmes such as Zoorama, 1Malaysia RC Fun Day (air and ground models shows), orchid show and contest, supercars and superbikes show, Kayuhan Warisan Taiping Malaysia 2012, Malaysian Rainforest in the Zoo event, the launch of Perak Tourism Passport and sales of souvenirs, local fruits, stage show, among others.
Hamidah said she appreciated MPT’s efforts and commitment in organising the festival.
She also said MPT was given RM150,000 by the state government as an incentive to organise the festival here.
“From the Visit Perak programme, we were inspired to come up with the idea to provide tourists with the Perak Tourism Passport.
“Not only can the tourists choose products and guides, they can also explore and visit places which offer discounts and win lucky draws.
“This would allow the tourists to have a good time in Perak besides enjoying the various benefits.”
